Described as a first, Plantronics has brought out a £138 unit, IP40n, designed to eliminate the need for IP desk phones or softphones — and save up to £90 per agnet per year.  It plugs into the Ethernet port, from where it draws its power, and is said to be compatible with call centre applications from most major vendors.

Plantronics says that audio quality is guaranteed because the voice path is independent of the PC.  It includes control buttons and is compatible with Plantronics’ range of professional grade headsets.

It will be demonstrated by Plantronics at Call Centre Expo, along with recently launched EncorePro and Savi Office headsets.  Contact: clare.tibbitts@plantronics.com
