Call centres dare to bare for charity

TWO call centres have embraced that annual tradition of posing for a (nearly) naked calendar, both of them to aid cancer charities.
In Uddingston, Lanarkshire, 11 people at Kwik-Fit Insurance, including MD Martin Oliver, stripped to raise funds for a cancer support charity based in Glasgow, Tak Tent.
It was nominated as the company’s 2007 charity of the year and is already due to receive £30,000 from the business after 12 months of fundraising by staff.
Mr Oliver said: “We have committed to a charity of the year for a number of years now but never before have I been asked to take my kit off.  However, it’s a great way of fundraising, so I was delighted to be of service.”
In Nelson, Lancashire, 50 staff – 20 men and 30 women – laid themselves bare.  Half of the proceeds will go to Everyman, which funds research into prostate and testicular cancer, and half to the female charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Daisy’s CEO, Matthew Riley, said: “…we thought it would be good to show customers the faces behind the voices that are at the other end of the phone and obviously try and raise as much money as we could for charity.
“I’m really proud of everyone that took part.  Taking your clothes off isn’t an easy thing to do, so credit goes to all the staff that were so willing to do it.”
